Buntar Aerospace is among the six largest publicly disclosed funding rounds raised by Ukrainian technology companies in 2026. The ranking appeared in Vestbee’s analysis of Ukraine’s startup ecosystem, published on August 20. It places Buntar’s $10.4 million round alongside Preply, Uforce, HOLYWATER, Haiqu and Farsight Vision.
The round, backed by Axon Enterprise and Munkene AS, funds the scaling of Buntar’s reconnaissance drones and mission software. Vestbee names Buntar, together with Uforce and Farsight Vision, as evidence that defense financing in Ukraine is shifting from small checks toward institutional venture capital and strategic corporate investment.
Buntar Aerospace awards
Buntar Aerospace was named Startup of the Year at the IDF Awards 2024, alongside the category for the best protective aerial startup, and in March 2025 the most promising project in defense tech at the DOU Awards.
The field record behind those awards is what makes them count. The Buntar-3 reconnaissance UAV, designed to keep flying under electronic warfare pressure, was ready for mass production in June 2025. The Buntar Skyhopper system was handed to special forces units of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence in October 2025, and in March 2026 a Buntar-3 corrected a strike on a Shahed launch site at Donetsk airport.
Ukrainian defense tech funding in 2025 and H1 2026
Ukrainian defense tech attracted more than $129 million in grants and equity investment in 2025, up 119% from $59 million in 2024, according to AVentures Capital’s DealBook of Ukraine, with foreign investors providing 49% of that capital. KPMG’s H1 2026 M&A Radar counted four Ukrainian defense tech transactions above $5 million in the first half of this year, against one transaction a year earlier.
